On February 2 to 6, 2024, the Bangkok International Trade Exhibition Centre (BITEC), Thailand hosted the Thailand Investor’s Day 2024 and the Bangkok International Intellectual Property, Inventory, Innovation, and Exposition (IPITEx 2024), events that bring together investors, intellectual property rights holders, and industry players from around the world.
The Faculty of Dentistry of Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) is proud of the achievements of two of its students, Alya Aqila Majid and Dhiya Nada Putri, who were selected to represent their institution in the prestigious competition.
Dr. Nilasary Rochmanita Suparno, MDSc, as the coordinator of the UMS Faculty of Dentistry, expressed her pride in the achievements of the two students. “The participation of Alya Aqila Majid and Dhiya Nada Putri in Thailand Investor’s Day 2024 and IPITEx 2024 in Bangkok is proof of the commitment of the UMS Faculty of Dentistry in supporting its students to excel at the international level,” she said.
The two students presented their innovative work in front of investors, intellectual property rights holders, and industry players from various countries. Their participation not only represented the UMS Faculty of Dentistry, but also as ambassadors from Indonesia in promoting potential and excellence in the field of dentistry.
A remarkable achievement was made by Alya Aqila Majid and Dhiya Nada Putri at the Bangkok International Trade Exhibition Center (BITEC), Thailand. Both won Bronze Medals, recognizing their innovation and dedication. This achievement is concrete evidence that UMS Faculty of Dentistry students have extraordinary abilities and talents in innovating and competing at the international level.
The innovation carried was quite interesting at the Thailand Inventor’s Day event with the title “Herbal Burnplast Application: St. John’s Wort as an Alternative Treatment for Dermal Burns”. This innovation is a development in the field of burn treatment using Herbal Burnplast application containing St. John’s Wort (Hypericum perforatum) as an alternative treatment for skin burns.
St. John’s Wort, or commonly known as Hypericum perforatum, is a plant that has long been used in traditional medicine for various medical conditions, including burn treatment. It contains active compounds such as hypericin, hyperforin, and flavonoids that have anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and wound-healing properties.
In the application of Herbal Burnplast, St. John’s Wort is used in the form of an extract or essential oil that is applied directly to the burn area. The use of St. John’s Wort in burn treatment aims to relieve pain, reduce inflammation, prevent infection, and accelerate the healing process of burned skin.
The advantage of this innovation is the use of natural ingredients that are proven to have therapeutic effects in the treatment of burns, so it can be a safer and more effective alternative compared to conventional treatments that often use chemicals or drugs that have the potential to cause side effects.
Thus, the innovation of “Herbal Burnplast Application: St. John’s Wort as an Alternative Treatment for Dermal Burns” is expected to provide a better solution in burn treatment, improve the quality of life of patients, and accelerate the healing process of injured skin.
This success is not only a reward for the two students, but also a pride for the Faculty of Dentistry UMS and Indonesia as a whole. Hopefully this achievement will inspire other students to continue to excel and make their institution proud in the international arena.
