Surakarta – The Faculty of Dentistry (FKG) of Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) has carried out an Overseas Partner Community Service program for Indonesian students in South Korea.
The companion of the Service Organizing Team, drg. Ana Riolina, conveyed the reason behind the implementation of this program, namely that some Indonesian students in South Korea face difficulties in obtaining oral health services due to obstacles such as anxiety and language problems. Along with that, due to the infrequency of their return to Indonesia, there is a delay in dental care that can worsen dental health conditions.
“We run this collaboration involving the Faculty of Pharmacy and the Faculty of Engineering. This effort was made to introduce and provide an understanding of the safety of over-the-counter medicines. In addition, we teach how to make Clivia Tea, a type of tea made from bay flowers, jasmine, and stevia, which has benefits in controlling blood sugar. This product was developed by students from the Faculty of Dentistry, Faculty of Pharmacy, and Faculty of Engineering,” said drg. Ana, who also serves as Vice Dean III of FKG UMS, on Thursday, (21/12/2023).
The implementation of this service took place in October-November 2023, starting with identifying the needs of the target group, then continuing with program planning which was mutually agreed upon by partner universities and target groups.
