Surakarta, June 21, 2024 – The Faculty of Dentistry (FKG) of Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) held a public lecture for students of the Dentist Professional program for the 18th and 19th periods. This public lecture aims to broaden students’ insights and knowledge regarding the management of cases of Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) disorders.
This event was held on Friday, June 21, 2024, starting at 08.00 WIB until completion, located in the Courtroom Level 2 of the UMS Faculty of Economics Building. The material presented at this public lecture was “Management of TMJ Disorder Cases”, with the main speaker Dr. drg. Aris Setyawan, MPH, M.Ked.Klin, Sp.BMM, Subsp.TM-TMJ(K), an expert in the field of oral surgery and TMJ disorders.
The event began with remarks from the Dean of FKG UMS, drg. Dendy Murdiyanto, MDSc, who conveyed the importance of a deep understanding of TMJ disorders for prospective dentists. “Knowledge of TMJ disorder case management is very important to support students’ clinical competence. It is hoped that this public lecture can provide great benefits and add insight to students,” said drg. Dendy.
This public lecture was guided by moderator drg. Mahfuzi El Haris, who ensured the discussion was interactive and informative. Dr. drg. Aris Setyawan conveyed various important aspects in the management of TMJ disorders, including diagnosis, treatment, and the latest techniques in the field. Students were also given the opportunity to ask questions and discuss directly with the speaker, making the atmosphere of the public lecture very dynamic.
This public lecture is part of FKG UMS’ efforts to improve the quality of education and student readiness in facing various clinical cases in the world of work. With this activity, it is hoped that students of the FKG UMS Dentist Professional program can apply the knowledge gained.
